It seems so often that we are “human doings” instead of human beings! I truly believe that taking time out-getting away from the things you DO to nurture who you ARE is critical to achieve success.
What do you do to take time out? Do you have a daily ritual?

Great reminder! Sometimes I think we can forget to take time for ourselves and get swept up by the “TO DO's” and the stress of it all. Yoga is one of the ways I enjoy some down time. Cooking dinner, walking the dog. It's usually just the simple things that rejuvenate me. Thanks Ann!
It's interesting too- because no one ever says on their death bed: “dang I didn't get those dishes done!” 🙂
I totally agree Ann. I get up at 4:15a.m. every day so I can work out. Because of that I go to be quite early, therefore, I choose not do do night meetings, appointments or networking events, and I don't feel guilty about it. I love my weekend hikes as well since it's a great time to reflect and be at peace. And every month I treat myself to a massage and pedicure. All these things help me stay balanced.

Anne, how ironic. Today I was just discussing this exact topic with my business coach about how sometimes a labor of love becomes a “love of labor” when driven entrepreneurs can't take time out of taking care of everyone else to take care of themselves. Enthusiastic momentum becomes a tedious drag.
Thanks for this message. It helps bring home the point.
I have found Lee that my ability to walk away from it all (3 days this weekend) helps my success tremendously!
Thanks, Ann, for sharing this essential message! You know I am an advocate for BEING, and that time out, play time, soul time, feed our sense of Well-Being… which makes us even better at the doing we want to contribute through our work. You are a great messenger for clear business practices in this changing world!
The highest compliment from you Tambra- thank you!
Absolutely true Ann. It's one of the reasons I stepped off the tread mill and moved here to the west coast. And, yes, because I am more balanced now my creativity has increased and I am happier and more balanced. My daily ritual is to meditate every morning and to take a walk in nature everyday. After that, time with my husband, family, friends and grandbaby are crucial to my peace of mind.
Great reminder Ann, thank you
I think creativity is so critical for success and you are right @ireneturner sometimes people think working more achieves success- creativity increases success! Love it!
This is such an important message. Thanks, Ann! When I moved my business to Silicon Valley, all I did was work-work-work and I completely burned out in the process. I'm now taking some time away from my business to travel, but my husband and I find that, even now, it's easy to let the little to-dos of life interfere with our relaxation and enjoyment. We must actively take time out to read for pleasure, practice yoga and enjoy the sights.
People are amazed that i can actually walk away from the computer and the phone for two days and cook, garden drink Champagne with my honey- woot!
Going to the gym is my main one and taking time out for family days, trips and seeing friends. I find all that essential but do find it hard to switch off sometimes. I think neither I nor my family wouldn't be happy at all if I didn't take time out.

I do have a daily ritual. First, I wake up and nag my kids for a while. That amuses me for a while, but eventually they wake up too, and notice. What I do is write, edit and teach fitness, so what I do to relax is go to the store and buy senses of humor whenever they're on sale, which isn't often so I don't have good jokes usually until the end of the month. And exercise is my job, but it still counts, as I LOVE it. But to truly get my brain away from myself (and why would anyone want to do that?) I read other blogs, especially ones like this that make me stop for a minute and breathe, yet also give me a chance to heckle Ann! So, how do YOU get away from it all?
