If you haven’t noticed, Facebook is up to some BIG changes (please note: you can click on the picture for a larger view)! You can opt in now, but March 1st EVERYONE will have to convert their biz page over! Here is a video to help.
if you are reading this on Facebook Notes, go to http://www.warrior-preneur.com/2011/02/17/facebook-business-and-news-feed-changes/
They also made an interesting change to your HOME page (for your profile) and your NEWS FEED. You might have noticed that your feed seems to have WAY fewer posts to it? Well, what Facebook did is remove form your stream people you never interact with. As a business person who teaches ENGAGEMENT – that says a TON. If you are not engaging with them, befriending them might not have been the right choice. You can get them back into your stream though.
Go to your home page:
- click on most recent
- click on edit options
- in the drop down menu change the option and save.
See, some people think if you watch a training video once you will be good, but technology changes all the time! I love supporting my clients with updates, but bigger than these things, strategy updates that make the changes work to your businesses advantage!
How do you use your new Facebook business page to create more visibility for your business?

Great information Ann…Seeing you walk thru the steps makes it easier for me to do. I appreciate you taking the time to do this for everyone.
Thanks for the walk-thru, Ann. I’m continually amazed at the possibilities! (and that Facebook continues to make such intricate changes to this platform.)
Today, I’m grateful for way that FB reflects how interconnected we are, all around the planet. AND for you, and the constant reminder you are to engage, create conversation, and be social (on social media).
Cheers~

Thanks Ann. Change does take some time to get used to but I feel as though i am ahead of the game a little after watching your videos and tutorials so thanks again
Ann,
Thank you for always being “in the know” and the “know how.”
Thanks Ann for this post. And thanks for the added insight around the filter regarding who appears in the newsfeed. I still think there may be people who just watch silently but really enjoy regardless and so it looks on the surface as if nothing is happening. But it is a good way of clearing out a lot of the debris from a business perspective

why is it though, on Twitter when people don’t engage we want to get rid of them as followers but somehow it’s acceptable on facebook? I think we need the same standards!
I agree with you Ann. Engage or die (or at least be dropped from the list)
I’ve had silent, unengaging followers unexpectedly buy from me which is fabulous. I can see this from both sides.
same here Fiona. I sort of theorize that it’s because FB is the “friendliest” of the SoMe platforms and appeals to different people than twitter. My actual customers engage less on my page, than those I network with, but still comment offline about things on my page.
Pat – that is your interpretation, not truth for everyone. My closest connections are on Twitter. For Earl they are LinkedIn.
Thanks for the information on changing the feed. Useful, helpful, as always.
Debbie
Ann – thank you! I love your tutorial – as always, helpful! It is bookmarked in my Important folder! Rachel
Thank you Ann for always being on top of what is new. I did change to the new FB and you answered some of my questions. One was why when I changed to us FB as my page I couldn’t post on a profile. Of course, it makes perfect sense now that you explained it! And the change of the personal profile was “silent” until a friend mentioned it so posting on my profile about my new page is not helping much because most people don’t even know about that change and that they need to fix it if they want to see more of their friend’s posts. I always count on you to keep me up to date and you never fail me!
Thanks for the video. I had already changed and implemented most of this as I like to dive into change as you know – lol. I also like to be able to guide a little now I’m coach on Social Networking Coaching Club or at the very leats lead by example :). I still can’t find my suggest to friends link any more though π

Hey @louiseedington- it’s on the right- just below Admins pictures and the switch I talk about!
thanks! Found it!
This is why I signed up for Lifetime Membership in SNCC! You were generous to share this crucial FB information with the world, but as I listened, felt oh-so-pleased that I would be getting the “rest of the story” as it emerges. I echo Shannon’s statement — thanks for being in the know and sharing the “know how!”
SO grateful to have you to help me understand all the things that are going on with Facebook and the other social media, too. I have to have visuals of stuff to “get it”, so really appreciate your videos and showing the actual pages and where everything is. I look forward to learning more in SNCC!
Love, love, love that you can post as your business page to other pages you’ve liked. I foresee great strategy there. Don’t love the order that the pages are forced into now…Don’t really understand their logic there.

I changed my page already and like most of the changes – still not loving or seeing the wisdom of non-chronological; my very linear-thinking brain gets a rash over it… The engagement thing…I have what I call “old-fashioned” clients. They enjoy my page – they will tell me in person or via email, but they don’t comment on the page. So, as Fiona said, there are lurkers who enjoy what you post, but don’t feel the need (or maybe are shy?) Hey, I just had a thought, next time someone comments that they liked my page, I’ll ask them if they can make a comment there (or ask them why they don’t.)

Pat- did you watch the video? People can still see YOUR posts in chrono order, on YOUR page. And ALL the research shows that those “old fashioned” (whatever that means, if they are on facebook they are not THAT old fashioned) clients are more LIKELY to participate in POPULAR conversations.
And you should encourage them if they are taking the TIME to email you- to ask them to copy and post it on your wall becasue it HELPS you.
.
Ann… In you video you say to click on “more” and then “edit” i don’t see a “more” option on my page.
then you haven’t added any apps to your page yet.
Thank you Ann This is a big help. I am getting better at this thanks to you!
Carol
Very useful tips Ann. Now I can comfortably make the changes on FB without panicking. Good stuff! Very useful for business owners to know how to read their pages.

Really good information about the Facebook update, in effect March 1. I will look forward to updated info via SNCC, too. I like many of the changes so far and managing three business pages becomes quite fun and challenging. Love the You Tube feature. Once again, appreciate the timely update on all things SoMe.
Now if we can just get Facebook to go back to the chronological order for our business pages. The new formula does not seem to really be very logical. Thanks for the information, Ann. Super useful as always.

Yeah that might be in the final change- they have had tons of feedback- BUT your fans can see YOUR posts in chrono order (of curse you can too)
As usual Ann, some really great info. I also checked the “people I”m interacting with” on my profile page, and there was a friend being blocked that I didn’t want blocked, so was able to remedy it. So worked well over there too.
Thanks so much for doing this, and I love that the pix I posted of my sister and I as a profile (for her bday) will forever be part of your video!! π

Thank you Ann! I am trying to get my facebook page to work for me! The new changes are challenging – so happy you are here to help us navigate our way through!
A friend of mine just in half way through a teleseminar on taking her Facebook use from blase to blazzin and my comment to her wen sharing this blog post was, “Not trying to play the ‘my social media girl knows more than yours game but …”
As others said thanks for being in the know but more importantly LEARNING the changes so quickly you can help the rest of us navigate through it. You truly are THE ‘cutting edge’

Ann, thanks for highlighting some of Facebook’s most significant changes. At first glance they seem major, and watching you demonstrate them in action is a GREAT help! It’s one thing to observe a new procedure β but the real challenge will be learning to use it strategically. I’ll be paying attention.
I agree using it strategically is the key Robbie! I am thinking big time on that!
Thanks for doing a video, the fan page or business page is a challenge for me as it is. I appreciate the chance to watch the video repeatedly. I’m interested in knowing how to make the YouTube videos RSS feed to the page. Do you have that in a video somewhere?

Anne I watched the video for changes. I have upgraded to the new Business Page but I’m not seeing the uTube Link on the left you were talking about. Is there something I need to do from my end?
Kim, YouTube feed to your page an app you need to add- it’s in the training on SNCC! http://thesnccway.com/
Ann, I went there before posting to see if I could find the right video can you point me in the right direction. Sorry to be a bother. I’m just not seeing it. Thanks…
It’s there Kim, even in the discussion stream people talk about it’s name. I have to keep some things member only (I do run a buisness you know π so I just can’t post it here. As a lifetime member of SNCC you are allowed on that site to ask questions THERE and I will answer ANY of them!
Sorry about that. I took your class a while back and you know I only recently have come back to work the steps of your program, and it takes a while to refresh myself on how to maneuver around your site. When I took your class we were concentrating largely on Blogging and that helped me a lot. What happened recently to bring me back was all the women that signed up for the 30 day challenge inspired me to do more. So thank you for that. I’ll head back over to SNCC and find it.
thanks Kim- i appreciate that- get the navigation guide and download it- that has links to all the video sections, which should help. And the content on the site is so much better than the teleclass- hence why I don’t teach it any more!
