I am a fan of making things real. Achieving the unachievable. Reaching for things that seem impossible. Wishing doesn’t get me anywhere. And I find that people that “wish” they had, or “wish” this would happen rarely get it. Is it because the wish is like an excuse when they say “I wish”? Are they just blowing in the wind?
Just this warrior’s thought.

Very Seth! Wish is up there with the shoulds in my book. A wish is wanting something to appear without having to do anything to get it so yes, blowing in the wind.

Wishing is like – should have, could have, would have instead of “I will”, “I am”, “I did”…
A wish can be powerful, like an incantation, if it has true intention behind it–and I’ve seen them spontaneously manifest–but in general, wishing has always seemed like a weak word to me, a substitute for true commitment to change one’s world.
I like what Maridel said about having the intention behind it. My pet peeve is “I’ll pray for it.” I’ve had friends tell me that they pray for a house… then proceed to sit at home and not work, waste money on random stuff, etc. Yet those who believe in the power of prayer have seen their prayers answered, much like those who believe in the power of auto-suggestion and stating their intentions. I think it’s a word that is used in so many different contexts instead of stating “I want,” “It would be nice if,” etc. that it is overused and misused.
I wish I may I wish I might….on the first star I see tonight! Wishing can be fun…but without hard work, determination, and the belief its yours for the taking….its just that…a wish…blowing in the wind….love the picture!
There are two types of people…. those who “wish” and those who “do”.
