New Year’s Eve has actually become one of my most favorite holidays in my home! I’m no longer in my 20s so that whole going out and drinking at a party thing just doesn’t do it for me anymore!
Several years ago my husband and I started a tradition that I really look forward to. That night, okay really from afternoon through evening into the night, we truly spoil ourselves and work on our relationship.
Earl goes all around town and picks out amazing bottles of champagne. Yes the real stuff. If you follow us in social media you know we drink a lot of the fake stuff, LOL. This is true French Champagne from the region. That’s all we drink all night long. I’m responsible for the food and it’s decadent and indulgent! Typically, because it’s Dungeness crab season, I can find them fresh but we always have Dungeness crab and hopefully filet mignon as well.
In addition, one of the powerful things we do is build our vision board. Our vision board as a couple is hung on the wall right next to the front door. Anyone who comes into our home will see it.
We first each, individually, go through our own magazines and articles and pick out the words and pictures that represent what our personal goals and values are and our vision for what our relationship will look like for the next year. Then we come together and place them on the board. It is always amazing to me where we are 100% aligned and where each of us is bringing new ideas to the relationship.
Now my hope is to always make it to midnight for romantic kiss, what girl doesn’t want that, but with all the Champagne we’re drinking that doesn’t always happen!
